Aspirin and willow: a salicylate lineage, not the same platelet medicine
Willow helped reveal salicylate chemistry. Aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid, a deliberately acetylated medicine whose irreversible platelet effect is not reproduced by an ordinary willow preparation.
